Square or Hexagonal Sunglasses: How to Choose

Square and hexagonal frames are both angular, so they are often lumped together. On the face they behave differently, and the choice usually comes down to face shape and how much the frame should say.

    Square frames

A square or wayfarer shape has a straight brow line and a deep lens. It adds structure to round and oval faces and balances a long face by adding width. It is the classic everyday shape, and it reads as calm rather than striking. In the IRIS LANE range that is Kabir in black acetate and Mira in tortoiseshell with gold hardware. Both measure 51-20-145, a medium fit.

    Hexagonal frames

A hexagon has six sides and a lifted outer corner, which draws the eye upward and outward. It suits round, oval and heart-shaped faces and is noticeably smaller: Noor and Aira measure 45-19-140, a narrow fit that sits well on smaller faces. Translucent acetate keeps the geometry light rather than heavy.

    How to decide

    • Wide or round face, or you want an everyday pair: square.
    • Smaller face, or you want a frame that is noticed: hexagonal.
    • Long face: square, for the extra width.
    • Heart face: hexagonal, for the lift at the corners.

Both shapes come in acetate with UV400 lenses, free delivery across India and a 30-day fit exchange, so a wrong guess costs nothing but a few days. See all four in the square and hexagonal collections.
