A pair you wear every day is judged by how it feels at four in the afternoon, not how it looks in the mirror at nine. Four things decide that.
Weight
Anything over about 40 grams starts to press on the nose by the end of a day. Our acetate frames sit between 37 and 39 grams, the metal ones between 22 and 27. If you are often on a bike or in the sun for hours, lighter wins.
Fit
The frame should be about as wide as your face at the temples, and the temples should rest on the ears without pinching. Each product page ends with a size guide giving lens width, bridge and temple length in millimetres. The same three numbers are printed inside the temple of any pair you already own, so you can compare before ordering.
Lens tint
Dark grey and black lenses keep colours true and suit bright days. Brown and amber lenses add contrast, which helps on hazy days and while driving. Gradient lenses, dark at the top and lighter below, are easiest for reading a phone. All IRIS LANE lenses are UV400 regardless of tint, so choose the tint for comfort, not protection.
A shape you will not tire of
Everyday frames are usually the simpler ones. A black square like Kabir or a slim oval metal like Rio go with most clothes and most occasions. Keep the statement pair for the weekend.
What is in the box matters too
A hard case you will actually use, a lens cloth and a small screwdriver for the hinge screws are the difference between a pair that lasts a season and one that lasts years. Every IRIS LANE frame ships with all three.
